JOE HAGAN

Joe Hagan, 87, Waverly, died Oct. 17, 2010, at the Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a medic on the USS Comfort during World War II. He also owned and operated Hagan Market in Waverly with his brother, Dude, for 50 years, and was a partner in the Hagan Brothers Farm.

He was a charter member of the Highland Creek Watershed Council, where he served as treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.P. and Clara Hagan, a sister, and four brothers.
Mr. Hagan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Hagan, Waverly; four daughters, Linda (Tony) Cooper, Owensboro, Judy (Ben) Newton, Guston, Becky (Barry) Holt, Sturgis, and Karen Jo (Charlie) Austin, Utica; two sons, Larry (Becky) Hagan, Owensboro, and Randy (Brenda) Hagan, Waverly; a brother, Billy Hagan, Waverly; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Freddie Byrd officiating. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 19 and from 8 a.m. until the time of the funeral Oct. 20, from the chapel of Whitsell Funeral Home, Morganfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
