VINCENT JAMES KIETA

Vincent James Kieta, 78, Radcliff, died Dec. 7, 2010, after a courageous four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was a graduate of Vine Grove High School and a founding citizen of Radcliff. He enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard and served in active duty during the Korean War. He was a founding member of St. Christopher’s Parish. He opened Radcliff TV, one of the first radio and television repair stores.

He helped plan and build the original St. Christopher Church and School and served on the Radcliff City Council and numerous committees. He took his greatest pride in the conception and development of Saunders Spring Nature Preserve, which now serves the entire community as a place of education, relaxation, recreation, and family time. He was the recipient of the Ollye Masters Award, Hardin County Distinguished Alumni Award, and Paul Harris Fellow, in addition to other recognition.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony; mother, Nathalie; brother, Anthony; and infant daughter, Angela. Mr. Kieta is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret; two daughters, Helene (Randy) Harris, Elizabethtown, Carolyn Ambrosino, Louisville; three sons, Michael (Sharon), Germany, Robert (Karyne), Portland, Ore., and Thomas (Micki Lynn), Lafayette, La.; a brother, Andrew (Betty), Vine Grove; a sister, Barbara (Dan) Brink, Elizabethtown; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Watkins, Louisville; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Meghan Kieta, Lauren Harris, Natalie Ambrosino, Kennedy, Brennan, Kale and Brayden Kieta; and three stepgrandchildren, Brian and Julie Harris and Lisa Williams.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 11, at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Radcliff, with the Rev. Dennis L. Cousens officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery in Fort Knox, with military honors.
