Fifth annual Brandenburg Women’s Expo Oct. 28

When Brandenburg resident Donna Reed began her Creative Memories Scrapbooking business, she began looking for ways to increase awareness and patronage of her business. Thus was born the idea of a women’s expo, a way for Reed and other like-minded women to showcase their businesses and a venue for women to avail themselves of goods and services of particular interest to them.
Although Reed has moved on from Creative Memories, she is still organizing the Brandenburg Women’s Expo, now in its fifth year. The one-day Expo held each year on the last Saturday in October, continues to draw a variety of vendors and attract a growing audience. Open to the public, the Brandenburg Women’s Expo features a myriad of goods and services of particular interest to women (but men are welcome, too).
Most of the 45 vendors are local and owned and operated by women. Vendor offerings appeal to a woman’s various needs and interests, including fashion and accessories, help in the kitchen, fashion accessories, home decor, and health and well-being. Depending on your particular shopping style, it’s a perfect place to do some early (or late) Christmas shopping.
A variety of jewelry, clothing and personal care items will be available including Mary Kay Cosmetics, Beauticontrol, Arbonne, Avon, The Goldlink, Dragonfly Designs, Golden Diamond Co., Premier Designs, Bracelets & More by Lori & Company and MisFitz Handmade Jewelry.
For those who have a crafty side, Stampin Up, The Dollhouse Scrapbook and Gift Shop, Close to my Heart, and Snuggly Stuffers, where you can design your own Teddy bear, are just the vendors to visit.
For those who’d rather enjoy what someone else has created, visit Wickless Candles by Donna, Purses by Fran, Gey’s Galaxy of Gifts, Written-N-Stone, Margo’s Mosaics & Bec’s Bags, Wisterialand Creations, Knitting with the Sisters, Designs by Mary, Million Wishes and Usborne Books.
Looking for convenience in the kitchen and lovely decor throughout the home? Visit representatives from Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Home Interiors & Gifts, Longaberger Baskets, Home and Garden Party and Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners. Be sure to visit Madrid Enterprises and Magdalena’s Restaurant and Gourmet Gift Shop. And the Meade County Extension Homemakers will be on hand selling cookbooks and cutlery.
If you need a new home to put all this stuff in, visit Country Place Log Homes or Re/Max Commitment, and when you want to get away from it all, check out The Travel Authority.
Women often take care of everyone else in their lives and neglect themselves. If it’s time to do something about that, learn more about taking care of yourself by visiting Curves for Women, Jade Creek Acupuncture, Natural Touch Spa & Salon and Xango Functional Health Beverage. For more information on breast health, visit the Meade County Breast Cancer Coalition.
New this year is a car seat safety checkup sponsored by the Meade County Farm Bureau Women. The drive-through safety checkup will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon. Those interested in having their seats checked out should come with the seats strapped into their vehicle. Safety experts will then check them for proper installation and the safety of the seats. This service is offered through Kosair Children’s Hospital in conjunction with the national program called SAFE KIDS.
All that shopping will probably make you hungry, but there’s a remedy for that as well? Catering by Jackie will offer a lunch certain to satisfy, and tables will provide a place to sit and visit a while with friends.
So, ladies (and gentlemen), mark your calendars for Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the Brandenburg Women’s Expo at the Farm Bureau Community Building.
