On Sept. 22-23, six Meade County DECA officers attended the Officer Leadership Conference in Bardstown. The officers were Michele Lusk, president; Laura Bruner, vice president; Sidney Allen, secretary; Catherine Kaiser, reporter; Brittany Martin, treasurer; and Tiffany Allen, historian/parliamentarian.

While we were there, we learned how to be leaders and how to expand DECA throughout more than just our technology center. We all met new people and heard opinions on effectively running a DECA meeting, all of us learning new things. We played games and watched the skits of the state officers.

Accompanied by adviser Elissa Gagel, we stayed the night at the Bardstown Days Inn. The next morning, as our conference continued, we got to hear our state officers speak to us. We had to present a script on how we would run our DECA meetings, and then the state officers told us what we did wrong and how to fix it.

The day being cut short due to weather, we went back up to our rooms to get our things together. We met a lot of new people and made a lot of new friends. It was a great experience, and all six of the Meade County DECA officers had a blast.
