Fiscal Court conducts short special called meeting

On Nov. 3, Judge Executive William Haynes conducted a special meeting of Fiscal Court. Magistrates Jamie Staples, Herbie Chism and Harold Davidson attended. Magistrates Don Callecod, Theresa Padgett and Kent Allen were unable to attend. Agenda items included action pursuant to the Sunny Meadows road district having paid 90 percent of the special tax levy and now being approved for chip and seal. This and all other agenda items passed unanimously. Fiscal Court authorized the striping of Old Ekron Road and one rezoning request from the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The Court quickly considered and approved Judge Haynes’ suggestion that already-designated Lincoln Trail Area Development District (ADF) funds for the completion of a walking path at Meade-Olin Park ($1,250) be augmented with county money in order to adequately complete the path. The Court unanimously granted approval for Judge Haynes to do so. The path will be eight-foot wide to accommodate an ambulance, if necessary.

Lastly, the Court also approved a KACO prescription discount drug program for county residents without prescription coverage. According to the ensuing discussion, this is a prescription discount plan to be made available to residents without such insurance coverage currently. Implementation of the plan seemed sketchy, as the item passed quickly when it was determined there would be no cost to the county or residents for this benefit.
