Gov. Ernie Fletcher visited Meade County Nov. 1 to present ceremonial checks for community projects. “The funding we present today will improve public safety through 9-1-1 and first responder communications upgrades for Meade County. Keeping our communities safe in the time of need is a top priority,” said the governor. The $123,569.67 check will enable the county dispatching system to reach “Phase II E-911” capability and to purchase mobile data computers. During his Nov. 1 visit to Meade County, Gov. Fletcher also presented Fiscal Court a check for $52,331 for improving the Flaherty ballpark. Rep. Gerry Lynn (R-27th District) stated, “This ballpark is so important to the citizens of this community. I have worked closely with state officials to see that this project receives the funding necessary to make these vital improvements.” Citizen contributions and commitments from Fiscal Court totaling over $57,000 will be added to the state money for this project.
