The Meade County Board of Education held its last meeting of the year and the last meeting during which Jeff Greer will be a member. Greer will take his seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives in January, and Bryan Honaker will step into the role of representing the 3rd District on the local school board.

Superintendent of schools Mitch Crump and board chairman John Inman thanked Greer for his 13 years of service to the district and wished him well in his future endeavors. “We look forward to continue working with you in your new role,” said Crump.

In reviewing the financial reports, Susan Fackler noted there had been general fund receipts totaling $1,884,263 with expenditures totaling $2,393,889. Over $340,000 of that amount went to purchase buses.

Standard approval items for December included accounts payable payroll, salary payroll, food service payroll, construction fund payments, approval of the superintendent’s personnel report, the hiring of emergency substitutes and emergency certification.

Nonresident contracts with Hardin County, Breckinridge County, Grayson County, West Point Independent and Elizabethtown Independent schools were approved for the 2007-2008 school year.

Also approved was a Feb. 9-11, 2007, trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the Meade County High School dance team.

In his last official act as a school board member, Greer moved to adjourn. The school board will next meet Jan. 9, 2007.
