The Meade County Planning and Zoning Commission held a special called meeting Dec. 14 to address two items on the agenda.

The first was a request by Louis Thomas Jr. He has an upholstery business now but requested a rezoning from R-4 to B-2 for the purpose of building a new upholstery shop and mini warehouses. Planning and Zoning administrator Barbara Campbell indicated she’d received one phone call expressing agreement with the rezoning and no contact opposed. Mildred Brown moved to recommend approval of the request. On a second by Allen Flaherty, all were in favor.

The second request was by Joseph Wathen who wanted to rezone 10 acres of his 33-acre parcel from A-1 to R-1 for the purpose of selling two-acre lots for single-family dwellings in anticipation of the changes BRAC will bring to this area. Flaherty moved to recommend approval. With a second by Mark Garverich, all were in favor.

These two recommendations will go before the Fiscal Court at their first meeting of the new year, Jan. 9, 2007.
