Ekron Baptist Church honors Blancs’ 40 years of service

On Sept. 15, 2007, Ekron Baptist Church celebrated its 103rd anniversary and homecoming as well as celebrated Pastor Charles Blanc’s 40th year of serving this congregation. The morning service was planned as a surprise to Brother Blanc. The service began with the choir singing a song titled “40 Years Ode to Pastor Charles Blanc.” The words to this song, written by Jimmie Lee Chapman, were a humorous way to describe his 40 years of service to the church and entire community.

Profile on Longevity – Rev. Dr. Billy Darrell Marcum
 From the time he was a child, Rev. Dr. Billy Darrell Marcum, 76, knew he wanted to serve the Lord. When he was 6 years old, someone asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He replied, “I’m going to be a Baptist preacher saved by Grace.”
