Once again, the Meade County High School concert choir received statewide recognition. The 127-member choir, under the direction of Bryan Nichols and Gibbie Horsley, was the only high school choir chosen to perform Feb. 9 at the 2007 session of the Kentucky Music Educators Association. “I Go Among Trees” composed by Earine Rentz was among the pieces the choir performed. It was particularly special in that it was commissioned for the 2007 KMEA performance. Additionally, nine concert choir members were singled out for statewide recognition. Chosen for all-state chorus were Courtney Cameron, Carrie Board, Whitney Davis, Josh Catron, Blake Cox, Jesse Smith, Chad Jones, James Miller and Aaron Wright. “Our quest is for quality in every program and initiative we offer,” said superintendent of schools Mitch Crump, “and the accomplishments of the MCHS choral program certainly reflect long-standing traditions of excellence. The MCHS concert choir enriches all of our lives.”
