Three to be inducted into high school athletic hall of fame

On Jan. 18, between the boys’ and girls’ basketball double-header at home against Cloverport, three more Meade County High School alumni will be inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame.

Payneville Elementary shares the secret of their success with the Board of Education

A stormy night didn’t keep the members of the Meade County Board of Education from keeping an appointment with the staff of Payneville Elementary School Jan. 8 as they traveled to the school for their regular monthly meeting. Board member Greg Beavin, who represents the district which includes Payneville, suggested going to the school to honor them for reaching testing proficiency (100) before the goal date of 2014. For the 2007 testing cycle, Payneville earned an overall academic index of 103.6 with scores over 100 in six of seven content areas: reading, 108.9; math, 108.6; science, 105.8; social studies, 124.2; arts and humanities, 105.6; and practical living, 102.5. The writing score was 93.2.
