A purchase agreement for a 104.41-acre parcel in the Buttermilk Falls Industrial Park is closer to fruition, following action during an emergency Jan. 15 meeting of the Brandenburg/Meade County Industrial Development Authority.

Authority chairman David Pace said the land was sold to Meade County Energy for $17,000 per acre, or a total of $1,774,970.

“This is the same acreage that AgriFuels had for the ethanol plant,” Pace said. “They (Meade County Energy) are going to work with AgriFuels on the ethanol plant.”

The parcel price also was identical to what AgriFuels paid, according to Pace.

“We hope to actually close within a week or two,” Pace said. The identities of the firm won’t be released until the deed has been signed, Pace concluded.
