Meade County archers attend first competition of the season

On Jan. 12, students from the Meade County Archery in the Schools Program gathered for their first competition of the season. Eight schools in Meade County currently have implemented the archery program and have now formed teams.

Tyler Crow takes 1st at North Hardin Tournament
Meade County wins it all!

Three years ago, Meade County High School did not field a wrestling team. On Jan. 19 they won one of the major tournaments held in this area. Approximately 224 wrestlers representing 16 schools descended on the North Hardin gymnasium to wrestle in one of the largest individual tourneys held in the state. Throughout the day and into the evening, these young men wrestled for individual honors as well as for their team.

Lady Waves continue their streak with two district wins

This past week, the Meade County Lady Waves looked to establish themselves as the team to beat once again this year in taking on two district foes in Hancock County and Cloverport’s Frederick Fraize. Hancock County was trying to gain revenge from their latest loss to the Lady Waves, 61-37, in Brandenburg and make their run for the district title. Cloverport, who has struggled this season, was looking for their first win.

Two victories for Greenwave basketball

Last week, the Greenwave basketball team hit the road and stayed home, with similar results. On Jan. 15, they traveled to Owensboro to battle the Owensboro Catholic Aces. On paper, the Greenwaves were supposed to win, but that’s why they play the game – it seems nobody tells the opponent they are inferior and should roll over and play dead. At least nobody told the Aces. The first half box scores tell the whole story:
