Winter break has its ups and downs for the Lady Waves
The Meade County Lady Waves had a busy Christmas break, traveling to play in the Smokey Mountain Holiday Classic in Gatlinburg, Tenn., as well as in the Gallatin Steel Invitational in Gallatin County in Northern Kentucky. Looking to gain some good experience and some wins, the Lady Waves embarked on a 7-game, 9-day journey that would not only test their legs but their experience so far this season.

Greenwave basketball returns triumphant from winter break tournaments
While most of us were concerned with a jolly man in a red suit, and vision of sugar plums, the Meade County Greenwave basketball team was plying their trade in the hills of Tennessee and Eastern Kentucky.
Meade sinks Russell County
On Jan. 5, the Meade County High School swim team took on the Russell County Lakers at Gammon Field House in Fort Knox. At the end of the meet, Meade County won by a combined score of 148 to 115. The girls triumphed 78-56 while the boys won 70-59.
Senior Night for MCHS wrestlers
On Jan. 2, Meade County High School recognized and honored eight senior wrestlers: Cody Bruce, Bobby Fuqua, Daniel McMullen, Justin Geary, C.J. Crow, Arthur Ohmes, Antonio Stewart and Branden Wyatt.
Wrestlers host second annual Meade County Invitational
Last Saturday Meade County hosted the second annual Meade County Classic at the high school. Six teams participated, and the grapplers from Meade County came in second by a scant three-point margin to a very good Central Hardin team.
Greenwave basketball: Road weary or road warriors?
All of the last seven basketball games played by the Meade County High School basketball team have been on the road. The Greenwaves have won five, lost one (championship game of Pikeville Invitational) and Jan. 5 won handily at Hancock County 58-38.
Bulldogs runner-up in Christmas Shootout
The 4th-grade AAU team from Meade County participated in the Midwest Youth Tournament – Christmas Shootout – Dec. 8 and 9 in Louisville.
