Lady Waves fall on senior night

Area girls’ prep basketball was back in action Feb. 18 when the Lady Waves of Meade County took on the Lady Aces of Owensboro Catholic at Meade County High School. This was to be the last home regular season game for the five Lady Wave seniors. Owensboro Catholic (17-8) came in ranked in the upper echelon of the 3rd Region standings, and it would make the Lady Wave seniors’ night if they could knock off the highly ranked Aces.

Senior night win for Greenwaves

On Feb. 19, seven basketball players and two cheerleaders appeared before the home crowd for the last time in a regular season game. In a brief ceremony between the junior varsity and varsity games, these seniors were recognized along with their families as they closed out their basketball and cheerleading careers. Ruby Bower, Chelsey Garris, Casey Hubbard, Jeremiah Mann, Chris Roe, Nick Stinnett, Eric Thomas, Eric Whelan and Rob Williams presented roses to their families, walked to center court, and were presented to their faithful fans.

Central Hardin too much for Lady Waves

Late Central Hardin rally sinks Greenwaves

In a clash of district number 1’s, Meade County ventured Central Hardin last Friday night for the last game of the regular season. Both the Bruins and the Greenwaves were ranked number one in their respective district. Nothing was on the line except pride, momentum going into their district tournament, and bragging rights against a territorial rival.

Meade County archers were definitely in the house

Students from eight Meade County schools attended the National Archery in the Schools Program Regional Championship Feb. 15 and 16. The tournament, held at Eastside Middle School in Bullitt County, hosted 18 schools from nine counties with a total of 421 archers. Meade County teams won every top team award and 25 of the 30 individual awards given.
