Big opportunity for little storyteller

On Feb. 23, Emily-Jo Banks competed in the Youth Storytelling Showcase hosted by the Kentucky Storytelling Association in Somerset and tied for first in the elementary youth division. With this win, she is now eligible to compete in the finals at the Kentucky State Fair in August with the hope of making it to national competition.

When Meade County High School graduate Mary Slinger brought her fellow students from Watkins Film School to Brandenburg for a weekend of filming, they weren’t sure what they were getting into as many of them had never visited Kentucky. They needn’t have worried.
