Jena McAlister competed and won at the Majestic Faces preliminary held in Brandenburg in November. She went on to represent the area in the national pageant held in the Louisville area April 5.

MARGARET HUFFINES
Margaret Huffines, a 5th-grader at David T. Wilson Elementary School, won the 44th Annual North Central Spelling Bowl held April 18 at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. This spelling bowl is sponsored annually by First Federal Savings Bank.

JORDAN WARFORD
Jordan Warford, a senior at Meade County High School, has been selected to receive an award of excellence scholarship at Western Kentucky University for the 2008-2009 academic year. This award covers in-state tuition, housing and books. The total value of the renewable scholarship over the four-year period will exceed $42,000. Jordan plans to pursue a degree in nursing to become a nurse anesthetist.

ALLIENE STULL
In January of this year, Alliene Stull was recognized for her commitment to the “Right to Life” organization during a Congressional breakfast In Washington, D.C. She is passionate about her belief in each child’s “Right to Life” knowing first-hand the difficulties of raising children in a less than perfect environment. Her steadfast commitment to life, regardless of circumstances, makes her an example to so many young women weighed down with the decision about raising an unexpected child.
