Wave Revue 2008:
Superheroes and other questionable characters

The cast of superheroes and other questionable characters experienced several firsts during the 31st annual Wave Revue presented by the Meade County High School choral department. First and most exciting, the 2008 Wave Revue was the first ever to be performed in the new MCHS auditorium. A state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, superb acoustics and comfortable seating made the show an enjoyable experience on many levels. The second significant first was the addition of a Saturday afternoon matinee. This year’s theme – Superheroes and Other Questionable Characters – was brought to life in song and dance by solo and ensemble acts, as well as the entire concert choir, under the direction of Bryan Nichols and Mary G. “Gibby” Horsley. The Madrigals were very convincing cartoon heroes, and Kalyn and Brianna Stewart were deliciously sinister as the two mischievous felines from “Lady and the Tramp.” The concert choir women performed “Who Said” with a solo by Sara Basham, and the men performed a “Secret Agent Man/Bad Boys” medley with a solo by Ryan Mundell. “Holding Out For a Hero,” performed by Stephanie Menser, with a special appearance by Western Kentucky University’s Big Red, was a real crowd-pleaser. The show concluded with the concert choir singing “Song for the Unsung Hero,” a tribute to our real heroes, all the men and women who serve our nation in the armed forces.
