Phil Powers received a $500 scholarship from ESC at Fort Knox. He will attend Eastern Kentucky University and study criminal justice.

CAMERON HAMILTON

Cameron Hamilton, a senior at Elizabethtown High School, was named a national merit scholar and received a $2,500 scholarship. Hamilton was one of 33 Kentucky recipients of scholarships funded by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Air Force Airman Kyle A. Collette has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

LAUREN WATHEN

Lauren Wathen, Flaherty, was named the Mid-South Conference Softball Co-Player of the Year at the annual MSC Softball Tournament. Wathen cranked out 45 hits in 136 appearances at the plate this season. She scored 31 runs and drove in 37 runs for the Lady Tigers this season. Wathen was also named to the Academic All-Conference team.

Susan E. (Benham) Shoulders has completed the studies and fulfilled all requirements to earn the associate in applied science degree at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

Jones wins district level of the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award

On May 5, Belinda Jones from Battletown Elementary School received a $100 check from the 4th District VFW Ladies Auxiliary, presented by Gloria Brady. Jones won the district level of the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award.
