WHAS Crusade for Children – what a weekend!
The volunteer fire departments, businesses and individuals in Meade County continued a long-standing tradition of supporting the WHAS Crusade for Children through a variety of fund-raising activities and corporate and private donations. The WHAS Crusade for Children weekend concluded with $96,287.24 raised by Meade County fire departments and presented in Louisville on June 8. Funds raised in Kentucky and southern Indiana counties are returned to those counties in the form of grants which assist children with special needs. A breakdown of the funds raised by each volunteer fire department and Meade County’s grand total can be found at right. On Friday morning, just in time to kick off Crusade Weekend, Arch Chemicals presented to the Meade County Fire District a check in the amount of $1,000 for the Crusade for Children. “In these tough economic times, it’s really nice to be able to count on Arch and other area businesses to support the Crusade,” said Fire Chief Larry Naser.
