With the sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance” playing in the background, members of the Meade County Education and Career Center Class of 2008 walked smartly down the aisle June 20.

Those who received their GED certificates included Richard Agee, Troy Anderson, Daniel Brown, Gene Adam Carnell, Herbert Chaffin, Angela Coakley, Bessie Denkhoff, Leslie Duke, David Greer, Vanessa Hayes, Judith Hoke, Jennifer Hughes, Dustin Isaacs, Nathan Jones, Angela Jupin, Nathan King, Nicole Kirksey, Amanda Lawrence, Jennifer Leach, Jamie Levine, Laura Mattingly, Matthew Mayfield, Melissa McGinty, Amanda McLeod, Joseph Meredith, Richard Morris Jr., Kenneth Offut, Lori O’Keefe, Michael O’Leary, Kimberly Priddy, Jessica Pugh, Todd Robinson, Tim Rose, Hannah Schwartz, Joey Stout, April Thibodeau, Chris Toney, Michael Vaars, Alesa Valdez, Thomas Vaughn, Danielle Webb and Jackie Wyrick.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Linda Thomas-Glover offered comments to the graduates and the overflow crowd gathered in the Meade County Extension office.

Dr. Thomas-Glover advised the graduates to “keep moving forward” and asked them not to let the discouragements of their past drag them down.

“Look back only to see where you have come from,” she continued. “And then you can keep moving forward with forgiveness for ourselves and others.”

A cake marking the auspicious occasion starts to get cut by an education center staff member.
Thomas-Glover said attending and speaking at graduations was high on the list of things that she liked to do.

“Don’t dwell on the negative, let it go and keep moving forward,” she stressed. “You need to continue to prepare for the future.”

She said family members and others gathered should not stop believing in the dreams of the graduating individuals.

Center manager Dianne Bratcher offered a welcome and staff members assisted with the presentation of diplomas and awards to the graduates.
