From Fort Knox to Corydon, Ind., residents can celebrate the nation’s birthday in style this Fourth of July.

Here is a roundup of events which are open to the public:

Corydon, Ind.

The Fourth will get a head start in Harrison County as several sponsors are teaming up for the Kiwanis Club-led fireworks celebration.

The July 3 fireworks is set for 10 p.m. or dark at the Old Capital Golf Club.

This event will be simulcast on a local radio station and promises to be bigger and better than last year.

Parking won’t be allowed on IN Hwy 62 but there will be parking at the Corydon Central High School with a free shuttle bus to the fireworks. The last bus departs at 9:45 p.m.

Spectators are asked to come early and bring their own lawn chairs. Coolers, cans or bottles are not allowed.

Fort Knox:

“The Spare Change Band” will headline a fireworks and music show for the public from 6 to 10 p.m. July 4.

The band will play at Fort Knox’s Keyes Park, with the fireworks show from 10:15 to 10:30 p.m.

Both events are free and the public is encouraged to attend. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, as “festival seating” is in force.

Patrons can also bring food and drinks if they like, but gas or charcoal grills are not allowed. Concessions will also be on site, according to the Fort Knox Public Affairs office.

At 11:30 a.m. July 4, on the Brooks Field Court of Honor will be a “Salute to the Nation” ceremony featuring a 51-gun salute (one for each state and one for each of the six U.S. territories).

Fort Knox Commander Brig. Gen. Donald Campbell will be the keynote speaker and music will be provided by the “Dragoons,” Fort Knox’s 113th Army band.
