Fire chief receives contract extension
By LARRY SEE JR.
Messenger Staff
A two-year contract, with a 3 percent salary increase effective July 1, and a possible 1.5 percent increase in 2009-2010 year, was executed last week between the Meade County Fire District and Chief Larry Naser.
Naser said board members didn’t specify what the increase would be in 2009-2010.
Naser is in the second year of a previous two-year contract. Fire district board members have held several closed sessions in recent weeks to iron out contract details.
Under the terms of the contract, Naser will earn a salary of $40,250.50, which includes his $3,100 state incentive payment.
He will receive eight paid holidays and is eligible for two weeks paid vacation, with the vacation time increasing one week next year.
District officials are paying for a portion of his life insurance. He does not have health coverage through the district.
Naser is the county’s only paid fire chief.
