A perfect day for a River Heritage Festival

Photos by Sandra Stone
A slight chill in the air, blue sky and sunshine – who could ask for better on the day of the Brandenburg River Heritage Festival Oct. 18. The day started early with a 5K run and continued nonstop with pumpkin and scarecrow judging and lots of vendors with good stuff to eat, wear and use. The music started at 11 a.m. with local group the Foggy Dew Players and went all the way to the late afternoon when Tommy Brown and the County Line Grass took the stage to end the very enjoyable day. In between were Dick Usher portraying Hall of Famer Pee Wee Reese (a native of Ekron); Carefree Highway; Mitch Barrett sharing tunes and tall tales; Paul Priest and friends sharing more tunes and even taller tales; and Curly Maple. The event was presented by the Meade County Museum and Arts Council (McMAC) and the Meade County Public Library with lots of help from local contributors.
