Monday night fire truck accident sends five to University of Louisville Hospital

A Meade County Fire Protection District truck, while enroute to an accident involving a trapped person on Gaines Road overturned Monday night around 6:40 p.m., near the intersection of Bypass and Broadway. Five firefighters were transported via Stat Flight helicopters to University of Louisville Hospital. Their conditions reportedly ranged from non-life-threatening to serious. The Kentucky State Police are 
investigating. Ambulance crews from Hardin and Breckinridge counties assisted at the scene, along with crews from area fire departments. Further details will be available in next week’s issue of the Meade County Messenger.
