Monday night fire truck accident sends five to University of Louisville Hospital

A Meade County Fire Protection District truck, while enroute to an accident involving a trapped person on Gaines Road overturned Monday night around 6:40 p.m., near the intersection of Bypass and Broadway. Five firefighters were transported via Stat Flight helicopters to University of Louisville Hospital. Their conditions reportedly ranged from non-life-threatening to serious. The Kentucky State Police are investigating. Ambulance crews from Hardin and Breckinridge counties assisted at the scene, along with crews from area fire departments.
