Sherill and Mohler scholarships are bestowed to two deserving seniors

On Nov. 18, 2000, David “Tugboat” Mohler passed away from complications of an injury he received playing the sport he loved – football. Since then, Dwight and Carol Mohler have awarded a scholarship in his name to the Meade County football player who has played all four years and attained the highest GPA on the team. One of the honored pallbearers at David’s funeral was James Sherrill, whom he played with, blocked for, and was best friends with. After graduation, Sherrill joined the Army. In April 2005, Sherrill was killed while serving in Iraq.

Meade County Basketball Camp

Meade County’s head basketball coach Jerry Garris, gives directions to the 105 campers in attendance at the Meade County Annual Basketball Camp. This is the longest running sports camp in Meade County and is now in its 27th year.

Greenwaves host the Meade County Shoot-out June 15-17

For the die-hard basketball junkie, summer is a time for season preparation. Junkies can have some relief next week, June 15-17, when the Meade County Greenwaves will host the annual Meade County Shoot-out. Thirteen teams from six different regions and two teams from Indiana will play a round robin tournament at Meade County High School, James R. Allen Freshman Academy, Stuart Pepper Middle School and David T. Wilson Elementary School.
