Chamber marks achievements and bestows honors

It was a night of celebration and fine food for members and guests of the Meade County Area Chamber of Commerce. Gathering April 8 at the Farm Bureau Building on the Meade County Fairgrounds, over 120 members celebrated the end of a successful year at the Meade County Area Chamber of Commerce installation dinner and awards ceremony and looked forward to the future.

New funding windfall arrives for Riverport Authority

The Meade County Riverport Authority learned they might have possibly up to $9,000 for Riverport engineering costs.

Armadillos in Meade County

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to travel to the southern states, you’ve probably seen a curious creature called an armadillo. The armadillo is normally found in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and other states with warm climates. However, this nocturnal mammal has now been sighted in Meade and Breckinridge counties.

Doe Run Inn holds Easter egg hunt


Doe Run Inn held its annual Easter egg hunt on April 1, which was a rain date. Over 100 children and their families attended and 1,500 eggs were collected in less than four minutes. Some of the eggs contained slips for prizes contributed by Allen’s S&T Hardware, Kim & Company, First Federal Savings Bank, Doe Run Federal Credit Union, Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Brandenburg Movie Gallery, Cox’s Variety and Garden Center, and Watt’s Food Mart.

Knights of Columbus makes special donation for a very special cause

Members of the Knights of Columbus joined special olympians at Meade County High School for cake and a check presentation ceremony March 16.

Meade County awarded federal funds

Meade County has been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Meade County has been chosen to receive $21,066 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area.

Easter Bunny makes stop at library

The Easter Bunny visited the Meade County Public Library March 23, for an egg hunt during 6 p.m. Story Hour. This program is perfect for working parents! Children ages 2-6 are welcome to join us for “A Very Hungry Storytime” featuring Eric Carle’s classic tale, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” on April 27 from 6-7 p.m. in the Meade County Public Library Annex.
