MACC Ministries holds grand opening
The Macedonian Action Christian Center (MACC) in Battletown, held its grand opening June 12. The MACC is a faith-based Christ-centered facility which provides programs to support the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the surrounding community. The organization combines the ministry of Cold Springs Baptist Church in Battletown, with Blue River Island Baptist Church in Big Bend. Some of the programs MACC provides are summer reading programs for kindergarten – 6th-grade (every Tuesday in June from 10-noon); exercise classes (every Friday 6:15-7 p.m.); a food pantry; tutoring (beginning Aug. 17, every Tuesday and Thursday) – in which volunteer high school students tutor younger children – and a storm shelter, located in the basement of the facility. The grand opening was an event that included food, games, bounce houses, an auction, face painting and entertainment by “Heaven Sent” and “By the Book.” Everything was free to the public. The MACC is located next to Battletown Park. For more information, call (270) 668-8020 after 5 p.m.
