In response to hacking incidents, leading AI firms themselves have argued for slowing down the development of the technology. However, President Trump sees it differently and announces an “AI Force” to oversee the growth of AI.

“We will not hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry in any way,” Trump wrote. The government will instead appreciate, support, and oversee its growth while keeping an eye on misuse – something that can be very easily managed with the existing criminal and civil law, he explained.
Trump did not provide details about the “AI Force”. The Presidential Office did not initially comment on the plans.
Warnings after Hacking Incidents
In recent weeks, following hacking incidents involving AI software, leading developers such as Anthropic and OpenAI have advocated for slowing down the development of artificial intelligence. They see the risk that the technology could slip out of human control. At the same time, more and more people in the USA are becoming critical of the construction of huge AI data centers, also because of their energy consumption.
Critics wanted “the decimation or destruction of AI”, Trump now wrote. As President of the United States, however, he would not allow this. Earlier in the week, Trump had already spoken of a “sick conspiracy” against AI.
