Citizens on Patrol update
Brandenburg’s Citizens on Patrol began their official duties in August and will each month provide an update to the city and the sponsors of the program. Volunteers are Vickie Bryson, Shannon Simpson, Donald Fitts, Misty Benham, Lorie Priddy, John Browne, Tammy Sinclair, Wayne Perguson, Paul Latta and Kenneth Bruner.
The Citizens on Patrol have taken on traffic control at Meade County High School each afternoon. This frees up the officers for patrol, calls and other duties.
They have also played a role in keeping a sharper eye on the churches in the city in response to a rash of church break-ins.
August highlights: 269 volunteer hours (including 170 training hours); 584 miles; three doors found open/damaged; and 16 suspicious vehicles reported.
For more information about the Citizens on Patrol, contact Brandenburg Police Chief Jason Amburgey at 422-4981.
