Flu vaccine clinic set for week of Oct. 17
The Meade County Health Department will hold a flu vaccine clinic the week of Oct. 17, according to clinical director Kris Paul. While there are no flu vaccine shortages expected this year, the health department has thus far received only 20 percent of its requested vaccine. And because shortages of flu vaccine have occurred during three of the last five flu seasons, the Centers for Disease Control has issued guidelines for prioritizing high-risk groups.

Street name changes in the city of Brandenburg

$427,966 in highway contracts awarded in Meade County
Elizabethtown – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Meade County. Two contracts, totaling $427,966.67, have been approved by the cabinet. Click Here For Full Story
Meade County holds 12th annual fire school

Meade County hosted its 12th annual fire school Oct. 1 and 2. The school began in 1993 at the Meade County Area Technology Center with a maximum of 65 students. That number has now grown to nearly 200, according to Chris Crawford, president of the Meade County Firefighters and Chiefs Association. Crawford estimates about half that number came from outside the county and as far away as Owensboro and Florence. Click Here For Full Story
Conservation District holds monthly meeting
The board of supervisors for the Meade County Conservation District held its monthly meeting on Sept. 26. Supervisors present were John Bruington, Joe Barger, Jim Scott, Jack King, Fred L. Tax rates taxed me
CLARIFICATION: I need to explain a couple of things in my previous reports on tax rates. When I reported on the Meade County Fire District meeting, I stated that Chief Naser and Chairman Mike Curl expressed a wish to raise the tax level to $0.10 which is the highest allowable limit. This occurred during general discussion and was not made in the form of a motion.
