Board of Adjustments approves outbuilding variance

The Meade County Board of Adjustments held its monthly meeting on Nov. 2, with board members Jess Mills, Joe Hobbs, and Louis Crawford present.

An application for dimensional variance was submitted by Rodney and Janice Lundy for their property located at 680 Viers Lane in Vine Grove. The Lundys requested a variance which would allow an outbuilding to be located in the front of their home. Accessory buildings are only permitted in rear or side yards according to the dimension and area regulations.

The Lundys stated their reason for setting the outbuilding in the front of the home is because Mr. Lundy has heart problems and difficulty breathing and the building needs to be placed in the front yard to provide easy access for Mr. Lundy. Mr. Lundy, who attended the meeting, also stated that because of the lay of the land and a wall that exists on the property, the location where the building could possibly be moved would block access to the building.

A site inspection conducted prior to the meeting indicated the site is a 2.667-acre lot with a single-family dwelling in an area characterized with manufactured homes on different-sized acreage. There are no other homes close by to the Lundys, and no one contacted in reference to the variance attended the meeting or expressed any opposition.

Following discussion, Louis Crawford made a motion, seconded by Job Hobbs, to approve the variance. The motion carried with all in favor.
