Rash of church break-ins continues

On Dec. 6, two churches in Brandenburg – First Baptist and Brandenburg United Methodist – were broken into and items stolen. These are the latest in a rash of church break-ins around the county.

Meade County High School latest victim of break-ins

Sometime during the evening of Dec. 8, subject(s) entered Meade County High School through the rear doors of the cafeteria. They went primarily to the office areas, according to principal Bill Adams, targeting coaches’ office, organization offices and the main office. Click Here For Full Story


Muldraugh’s adult stores – exploring the controversy

The two adult stores in Muldraugh – Hilltop Video and USA Adult DVD and Cabaret – have been a presence in Muldraugh since late 2003 and early 2004. The opinions on these two stores are varying. Many wonder how they got here and why they aren’t more strictly regulated. Others say they don’t “choose” for them to be here but you can’t keep them out. Still others believe everyone has a choice and these stores should be allowed to exist for those who wish to visit them – as long as they aren’t harming anyone else and do not present a danger to the community. Shop with Cops now in seventh year

The Otter Creek Lodge #67 of the Fraternal Order of Police have been in existence since 1999. Since their inception, they have held an annual Shop with Cops event for the youth of our community who would otherwise not have a Christmas. For the last three years, the FOP Auxiliary has taken on the Angel Tree program in addition to the Shop with Cops event. “We aim for every kid in Meade County to have a Christmas,” said Meade County Deputy Sheriff Bill Basham.

Ekron City Commission expresses appreciation

At the Dec. 6 meeting of the Ekron City Commission, Mayor Gwynne Ison thanked 5th District Magistrate Harold Davidson for his support of the city of Ekron. Two specific points mentioned were his assistance in coordinating the recent paving work, and his donation of $500 in matching funds to the park. Magistrate Davidson stated that he hoped to continue to be of help in the same position next year. Click Here For Full Story


‘Tis the season even for scams

Back in early November, a Meade County woman, who asked to remain unnamed, advertised a tanning bed for sale on WMMG’s Tradio Web site. The tanning bed was for sale for $2,000 or best reasonable offer.
