Early Christmas gift to the county
Meade County Fiscal Court held a public hearing before its Dec. 13 regular session to discuss the $6 million purchase of over 550 acres of river bottom land from ARCH Chemicals. A court room full of citizens had nothing but positive comments. Meade County Industrial Authority spokesman, David Pace, described it as one of the most important steps ever taken for the future of Meade County. He introduced the members of the industrial authority and thanked ARCH and the Fiscal Court for working with them to achieve this great step. Click Here For Full Story
Fiscal Court updated on tourism
Russ Powell, executive director, Meade County Area Chamber of Commerce, addressed the Fiscal Court about new resources that the state is providing for tourism. Powell attended the Kentucky Tourism Council’s annual convention in Lexington and found out that many of the state’s smaller counties are ahead of Meade in terms of tourism marketing and development.

Fiscal Court handles full agenda
Meade County Fiscal Court managed to keep their Dec. 13 meeting under three hours despite holding a public hearing, going into closed session and addressing an agenda with twenty two items. Following the hearing, the regular session began with County Attorney Darren Sipes’ first reading of the summary version of the Social Host Ordinance sponsored by students from Meade County High School. Brandenburg City Council looks at building permit issue
The Brandenburg City Council held its last meeting of the calendar year Dec. 12 with all members present. Mayor Ronnie Joyner welcomed visitors to the gathering and opened the floor to Mike Faith, who was responding to a letter from the city regarding buildings on his property. Faith stated he had brought a portable building onto his property to store equipment in and did not realize he needed a building permit for the shed. “I want to be a good neighbor and do what’s right,” he said. Muldraugh City business stalled out once again
The Muldraugh City Council was scheduled to hold its monthly meeting on Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. However, 6:30 came and went with three council members missing in action. With only three council members and the mayor present, there was no quorum present and the meeting could not be held.
