Several road projects slated for Meade County
According to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s public information officer Becky Judson, there are several road projects on the agenda for Meade County, with some in progress and others in preliminary stages.

Relay for Life kicks off for 2006

The American Cancer Society’s Meade County Relay for Life officially kicked off Jan. 16 with a chili supper held at the Meade County Extension office. Father Bob Able was present, delivering the invocation, blessing and benediction for the evening. The kickoff was sponsored by an anonymous donor and donations from HL Ceramic and Tile.

MCFPD trustee participates from hospital bed
Despite his recent leukemia diagnosis and aggressive chemotherapy treatments, Meade County Fire Prevention District trustee Terry Carter did his duty and participated in the monthly business meeting on Jan. 16 from his hospital bed via a speaker phone set up by Fire Chief Larry Naser’s son, Charlie. Displaying the dedicated nature of a volunteer firefighter, Carter ensured a quorum in the absence of trustees Keith Madison and Martin Bosemer.

Meade County Water District to begin Phase VI Water Extension Project
At the regular Meade County Water District Jan. 17 business meeting, General Manager Joe Bartley described plans to begin Phase VI water extension project this spring. Phase VI will bring water this summer to areas of Meade County including KY 79 from the Haynes-Turner Road to Midway including the Molly Brown Road, also as far along KY 144 from Liberty Road through Andyville to KY 228 as funding can take it, and finally a section of U.S. 60 starting at Shumate Road plus two sections of KY 1816 which will complete that circuit. Alternate improvements including Sand Ridge, Fred Fackler and Knotts roads will also be made if funding lasts. Click Here For Full Story
‘Toe Roaster’ – a musical comedy with ties to Meade County – comes to Louisville

A musical stage comedy called “Toe Roaster,” written by legendary country music songwriter Bryan Kennedy, comes to Louisville this week. But what makes “Toe Roaster” so newsworthy is its ties to one of Meade County’s own. Lane Cross, a 1971 graduate of Meade County High School, is Toe Roaster’s manager. Click Here For Full Story
