Meade County Fire Protection District holds special board meeting
MCFPD board chairman Mike Curl requested that treasurer Bruno Ilario address budget issues that had arisen in order to clarify planning for the 2006-2007 fiscal year budget. Curl had also invited past fire chief and current banker, Bryan Claycomb, to the meeting to add input.

What I recently discovered – and many of you may be as “in the dark” as I was – is that Meade County does not have an ordinance requiring fencing around swimming pools. I was very surprised to learn this because, for obvious safety reasons, I thought fences and safety gates surrounding pools were a requirement everywhere. Sadly, this is not the case. Conservation District hopes to add another employee
The board of supervisors for the Meade County Conservation District held its monthly meeting on Feb. 27. Present were chairman John Bruington and board members Joe Barger, Jim Scott, Nathan Beavin, Jack King, and Henry Pike. Fred L. Sipes was absent. Meade County Public Library rocks
Library director James Mitchell told the board at their February meeting he will be finalizing plans for the summer concert series in the next few weeks. Co-sponsored by the Meade County Museum and Arts Council, the events will be in May, June and July and feature rock, jazz/blues and bluegrass music.

Brandenburg City Council agrees to annexation
The Brandenburg City Council held a special called meeting Feb. 27 to address three agenda items. The first was the appointment of Bonnie Oblander to the Board of Adjustments.
