109 Board votes to move solid waste coordinator to bookkeeper

Following a meeting of the personnel committee, the 109 Board held a special called meeting July 20 and entered into executive session to discuss personnel issues.


Meade County Fire Protection District elects new chairman

At the regular July meeting of the MCFPD board, Martin Bosemer was elected to replace Mike Curl as chairman despite a reminder from Curl that Bosemer had received a vote of no-confidence from the board a year earlier. Trustees Jim Anthony, John Abadie and Bruno Ilario voted for Bosemer with Terry Carter and Curl saying no. Keith Madison was absent and Bosemer abstained from voting on the issue. Carter was unanimously elected vice chairman. The election of a secretary was tabled until the next meeting as Abadie declined reappointment explaining that he felt it was pointless since Mike Faith was doing a good job as acting secretary.


Water District ready to begin Phase VI

Meade County Water District General Manager Joey Bartley had good news when he updated the board on Phase VI. Meade County met certain criteria that had been passed by the Kentucky General Assembly which allowed the district to waive the application for certification of public convenience and necessity and be able to begin work about a month earlier than anticipated. When work begins, plans are to start on Rabbit Run Road and U.S. 60 portions of the project.


109 Board votes on night pickup

The 109 Board held its regular monthly meeting July 17 at its new day and time – the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.


Meade County Public Library is going strong

Now that summer is drawing to a close for students and the library–sponsored Civil War reenactment and music festivals have been huge successes, don’t expect things to slow down. Library director James Mitchell reports that the library will be at the Meade County Fair for Kid’s Day on Wednesday, July 26. Also, MCPL will be offering a new series called Music into Film starting at 6 p.m. on July 27. Yu-Gi-Oh Card tournaments, Family Fun Night, Princess Program, Leap Pad, Story Time and classes in drawing, prenatal development and yoga are all starting again in August. Board of elections reviews deadlines, election calendar

The Meade County Board of Elections held its regular monthly meeting July 17. Present were board members Rosemarie Folden and Mary Ann Pile and Meade County clerk Katrina Fitzgerald.
