Game warden Bob Marengo and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Tony Brown attended the Sept. 12 meeting of the Meade County-Brandenburg Industrial Development Authority to address the issue of Jerry Hardesty’s deer. Hardesty is currently leasing the farmland on the 551-acre site of the future industrial park, and he is having a large problem with deer grazing and bedding down in his soybean fields. Previously, the Authority had declined to allow hunting on the property because of liability concerns.
A special called meeting of the 109 Board Sept. 11 opened with chairman Bim Wardrip requesting an explanation of why the meeting had to be changed from its regular night of the third Monday. Member Bill Hofmann said he would not have been able to attend a Sept. 18 meeting and stated he appreciated the board’s cooperation. Wardrip, expressed his frustration with the change, indicating he felt it wasn’t a very good reason and noting the change had inconvenienced the other board members, prevented the board’s attorney from being in attendance and resulted in the meeting being held in the solid waste office, rather than in the courtroom at the Meade County Courthouse where it is regularly held.
Fiscal Court holds another “interesting” meeting
Meade County Fiscal Court held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 12, with Judge Executive Bill Haynes presiding and Magistrates Kent Allen, Don Callecod, Herbie Chism, Harold Davidson, Theresa Padgett, and Jamie Staples all in attendance.
