Meade PZ recommends rezoning of Grandview Estates

The Meade County Planning and Zoning Commission held its regular monthly meeting Sept. 21 with all members present. The first rezoning request was one initiated by the commission itself. Grandview Estates, when it was subdivided in 2001, had been agricultural land. The subdivision now consists of 23 lots with four of the lots already zoned R-1, the remainder zoned A-2. Since the time of this rezoning, the commission has requested that all land being subdivided into subdivisions be rezoned from agriculture to residential. The deed restrictions on this subdivision mandate only single family dwellings. Several of the current property owners, however, have stated they wish the zoning to match the subdivision restrictions. It was with this information in hand that the commission requested rezoning of Grandview Estates from A-2 to R-1. One person, a resident of Grandview, spoke in favor of the rezoning. There were no other comments. Allen Flaherty moved to recommend rezoning the subdivision from A-2 to R-1. On a second by Lawrence Sechrist, all were in favor. The vote was based on the commission’s agreement with the administrator’s findings that the rezoning will reflect the proper usage of the land.
