The Meade County Fiscal Court held a special called meeting Oct. 18 for the purpose of addressing five agenda items. Judge Executive William Haynes and Magistrates Don Callecod, Herbie Chism, Harold Davidson and Jamie Staples were in attendance.
The first order of business was to select an auditor. Callecod moved to accept the low bidder – Richardson, Pennington & Skinner. The motion passed unanimously.
Two other approval items were handled quickly. The centerline painting on Old Ekron Road will be completed while equipment is in the area to accomplish this task. Callecod moved, with a second by Davidson, to contract with Lumberjacks to cut down dead trees at Meade-Olin Park. The court agreed they need someone with proven experience and liability coverage. Lumberjacks will cut the trees and grind the stumps at a cost not to exceed $1,500.
Installation of chainlink fence around the radio tower at the courthouse was necessary to satisfy insurance requirements. Dutschke Fencing completed the project, and their payment claim was approved.
A fifth item, reimbursement to Don Bewley to cover costs for a Corps of Engineers permit, was not discussed as Fiscal Court has not yet received the invoice.
