Ribbon cutting scheduled Nov. 2 At Cozy Furniture & Mattress on Bypass Road
BRANDENBURG – Cozy Furniture & Mattress, one of Meade County’s new businesses, is inviting the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house to mark its official opening.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon on Thursday, Nov. 2, and the open house, which will feature a prize drawing for a piece of furniture, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Cozy Furniture & Mattress is located at 2015 Bypass Road in the part of the store-office complex there that was once occupied by a CVS pharmacy.
Owners of the store are Connie and Phillip Skaggs, Meade County, and her brother-in-law, Larry York, Bardstown, who owns a Cozy Furniture & Mattress there.
“Larry York has been in the furniture business for 25 years, so my husband and I decided to go ahead and take the plunge with his help and experience,” says Connie Skaggs.
The store carries several lines of furniture in styles ranging from traditional to contemporary and a full line of mattresses, according to Skaggs. Among the furniture lines are Catnapper, which manufactures various types of recliners, and Vaughan Bassett, which makes all-wood furniture.
She describes the store’s pricing as “competitive.”
Among those working with the owners is the Skaggs’ daughter, Meagan, a sophomore at Meade County High School. “This will be a great opportunity for her to learn about the business world,” says her mother.
Operating hours for Cozy Furniture & Mattress are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Its telephone number is (270) 422-8000.
The Meade County Area Chamber of Commerce is assisting with the ribbon-cutting ceremony – a service it provides at the request of any new or relocating business in the community, according to Russ Powell, its executive director.
