Brandenburg Medco brings holiday cheer to residents

In an effort to boost the holiday spirit for the residents of Medco, the staff has planned several events for this holiday season.

The month of festivities began Dec. 2, with Brandenburg Mayor Ronnie Joyner and county Judge Executive Bill Haynes present for the “First Annual Light up Medco,” which was held at 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Prior to the event, the nursing, therapy, management, and rest of the staff all chose an area of the facility to decorate and hang lights. The lights will be lit through the first of January. After Joyner and Haynes lit up Medco, everyone enjoyed hot cider, coffee and decorated cookies.

Medco’s assistant director Lora Haynes shared other events planned for the month of December. During the entire month there will be a “Deck the Halls” theme, with the staff dressing in festive attire. From Dec. 3 through 9, all the residents will have the door to their room decorated. Formal invitations will be sent to the families of the residents to come to Medco for a holiday dinner to be held Dec. 12.

“Everyone donated their time and money to make it a nicer place for everyone at Christmas time. This is the residents’ home, and we’re trying to make the holiday as special for them as it is for us,” said Lora Haynes. “I’m very proud of the staff who worked so hard to make this happen.”
