Community receives Area Development Funds

The Lincoln Trail Area Development District board of directors was pleased to present an Area Development Fund check to the city of Brandenburg. The check, in the amount of $1,274.03, will be used toward the purchase of a new ADA compliant drinking fountain for Riverfront Park. A check was also presented to Meade County Fiscal Court in the amount of $1,250 for improvements to Meade Olin Park. The city and county should be commended for these projects and the benefit they afford the entire community.

The Area Development Fund program is administered by Commissioner Steve Robertson and the Governor’s Office for Local Development through the Lincoln Trail ADD. Thanks to the legislative efforts of Sen. Carroll Gibson and Rep. Gerry Lynn, the appropriations for the funding of this program were approved by the Kentucky General Assembly during the 2006 session. Funding for this capital improvement grant program comes from the Coal Severance Tax.
