Ethics Commission ponders 3-year-old ethics complaint
By JOE REDMON
Messenger Staff
Meade County Ethics Commission chair Joanne Fitzgibbon and commission members Harold Fackler, Gloria Brady, Lamar Jones, Tara Powers and Tim Gossett conducted a special meeting of the commission Nov. 27. Member Joe Bewley did not attend.
The commission quickly approved the minutes from its past meeting and voted to go into executive session to consider an old ethics complaint. They then conferred with each other almost two hours over whether to officially “hear” the complaint. The Ethics Commission then left executive session and announced it would postpone a decision whether to “hear” this complaint until its January meeting. No further information regarding the complaint was released.
The commission remains intent upon meeting in February to review all financial disclosure forms from newly elected and/or appointed public officials. But the next meeting of the Ethics Commission will take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the county courthouse, when the commission will decide whether to proceed with hearings on the aforementioned complaint.
