Fiscal Court conducts special meeting; working session
Meade County Judge Executive Harry Craycroft convened a special called business meeting of the Meade County Fiscal Court Feb. 27 with a three-item agenda, with plans for a follow-on working session. All members of Fiscal Court attended. Included in that agenda was consideration for the purchase of a desk for the county attorney, Margaret Matney.

Daylight-saving time is arriving early (and staying longer) this year – set clocks one hour ahead on Sunday, March 11
Starting this year, daylight-saving time has been changed from its traditional calendar dates to start three weeks earlier – Sunday, March 11 – and finish one week later – Sunday, Nov. 4.
13th annual Farm Toy Show draws a crowd

Although Internet sales are hurting toy shows across the country, that didn’t seem to be a problem in Meade County March 2-3 when the Lincoln Trail Antique Power of the Past Inc. hosted its 13th annual Farm Toy Show and Sale.
Meade County students part of Kentucky All-State Children’s Chorus
On Feb. 7-8, five Meade County students attended the annual Kentucky All-State Children’s Chorus. Four students from David T. Wilson Elementary and one from Ekron Elementary worked very diligently with their music teachers to audition and attend the event.

The Muldraugh City Council held a special called meeting on Feb. 26. In attendance were Mayor Danny Joe Tate and Council Members Curtis Kelley, Ron Heschke, John Haynes, Brenda Carlberg, Donnie Basham and Ralph Lee.
Conservation District still dealing with unpaid dead animal pickup bills
The Meade County Conservation District held its monthly meeting on Feb. 26. Present were chairman John Bruington and board members Fred L. Sipes, Jack King, Henry Pike, and Nathan Beavin, as well as employees Charlotte Lawson, B.J. Stith, and Calvin Bohannon.
Board of Health recommends clinical nurse for school system
The Meade County Board of Health met Feb. 26 and heard a report from the committee on school nurses. The committee had met and discussed a letter sent to superintendent of schools Mitch Crump and the members of the Meade County Board of Education. The committee members requested consideration of the school board to fund a position for a clinical nurse in Meade County schools. The Lincoln Trail Health District would absorb 35 percent of the costs of this position, as it does for other school systems in its district. The cost would be $214 per day for a clinical nurse, including supplies and expenses. Committee member Amanda Brown was planning to meet with Crump the next day to request being placed on the school board’s agenda.
