Fiscal Court confronts county attorney controversy

Meade County Judge Executive Harry Craycroft convened a special called working session to discuss the continuing controversy surrounding the required reconciliation of accounts between outgoing Meade County Attorney Darren Sipes and incoming Meade County Attorney Margaret Matney. A full Court considered the facts surrounding the reconciliation and transition of the county attorney’s office as recited by the judge executive.


Phony check scam hits close to home

Letters are going out across the country to “lucky” lottery winners, and Ernest Harris, Flaherty, received just such a letter from Win-For-Me International Sweepstakes. According to the letter, he had been awarded a prize of $98,000 from a total cash prize draw of $588,000 shared among six winners.


The Easter Bunny came to town

With snow flurrying about on April 6, it appeared the Easter Bunny might need a little help from Santa Claus to get his baskets delivered on time.


Unveiling ceremony will kick off Meade County’s Clothesline of Quilts

BRANDENBURG – A public unveiling has been scheduled for the first of what will be a dozen or more “quilts” in Meade County’s new Clothesline of Quilts.


Former New Brandenburg Baptist Church building disassembled by Amish

The old building that for many years served as a place of worship for the New Brandenburg Baptist Church congregation has been disassembled, with many of the materials from the building to be “recycled” and put to good use in Breckinridge County.


Relic found near Rock Haven

Howard Wardrip visited the Messenger office April 4 to share some photos of Brandenburg before and after the April 3, 1974, tornado.
