A grant application through the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development loan program is being readied – and Meade County Water District officials are hoping it’ll be approved so they can lay some pipe soon.

WHAS Crusade for Children – over $90,000 raised by Meade County fire departments

The WHAS Crusade for Children weekend concluded with over $90,000 raised by Meade County fire departments. Funds raised in Kentucky and southern Indiana counties are returned to those counties in the form of grants to assist children with special needs.

Flags for veterans at Garnettsville Cemetery

“I was at Garnettsville Cemetery last year right after Memorial Day and I noticed there were almost no flags on the military veterans’ graves,” said Don Frenzl, a Marine Corps veteran. “So I purchased some flags and contacted the Boy Scout Troop 150 Scoutmaster, Joe Roe who is an Army retiree. He agreed this would be a good project for the Scouts, and here we are.”


Special meeting set June 28 to possibly close current ethics complaint

A 6 p.m. June 28, special meeting has been established to possibly close an ongoing ethics complaint.


Ashley Ross – Extension intern

There’s a new face at the Meade County Extension office – for the summer at least. Ashley Ross has joined the staff as an Extension Services intern where she will be working primarily with Carole Goodwin, Meade County’s 4-H and Youth Development agent, assisting with her programs and day camps already planned.
