Three percent salary hike, taking effect July 1, authorized in 4-2 vote for fire chief

A 3 percent salary increase, raising Fire Chief Larry Naser’s base pay from $38,118 to $39,261 was granted in a 4-2 vote June 18.


Farm Services Agency, farmers butt heads over closure of Meade County office

About 40 county farmers made it clear to Farm Services Agency state director Jeff Hall.

They don’t want to travel to Hardinsburg to conduct their business.


HVAC contract earns Fiscal Court approval

Two firms submitted bids for heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance (HVAC) costs for the county courthouse.


Good turnout for fire district election

Lines formed early, and people kept coming from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23 as residents of the Meade County Fire Protection District voted for the property owner to represent them on the district’s board of trustees. Will T. Parker and Melissa Ann Thompson were on the ballot for the one open position.

In a unanimous vote, the Meade County Fiscal Court decided to continue with Humana as the county’s insurance provider.

A request to continue with a city access route into Brandenburg won the endorsement of the Meade County Fiscal Court.

There were no changes in officers for the Meade County/Brandenburg Industrial Development Authority.


Lease extended, industrial authority moves forward on creating economic development position

The land lease for the proposed Agri Fuels facility has been extended for an additional 120 days, in the hopes final resolution can be made with CSX railroad officials.


West county water grant request inches forward
