Members of the Meade County/Brandenburg Industrial Development Authority authorized an option contract for about 400 acres at the industrial park site.

IDA Chairman David Pace said the option is for 90 days with three additional 90-day periods available. The option can be signed anytime within those 90 days.

The agreed-upon price is $25,000 per acre.

Pace was hesitant to release further details about the firm, adding a full disclosure will come at a later date.

“They have done their due diligence and they have met with the appropriate parties,” Pace said. Those parties include AgriFuels, Meade County Energy and the Riverport.

“There is a good potential for all of them to work together. This industry will easily fit in with what is going on out there,” he continued.

Firm representatives, including the company’s head man, visited Brandenburg last year.

“We actually had the main man in Brandenburg,” Pace said. “That actually lent more validity to it. He went around with us and liked what he saw. They were there the whole day and the entire schedule clicked.”

Pace also reported this means the entire industrial park acreage has been sold, adding “that’s a big deal.”

“This has probably been one of the easiest firms I have ever worked with,” he said. “We are not done, but we are closing in on it.”
