Going for the Gold!
Local Girl Scout improves community by “Sharing the Music”

IRVINGTON – Local Senior Girl Scout Jenna Haynes is working hard to improve the Kentuckiana community. Jenna is collecting old, used band instruments with the goal of fixing them up and donating them to the Breckinridge County Band Program. And she’s asking the public to assist in her collection efforts. Anyone who would like to donate a band instrument in any condition may do so by calling 547-2753.

Ali’s Locks of Love

Over her summer break, Ali Flaherty, 7, donated her hair to Locks of Love, an organization which provides human hair wigs to children with medical hair loss.

Three local students named Sen. Jeff Green Scholars

Hannah Allen, Jennifer Hail and Shawn Hughes, all 2008 graduates of Meade County High School, have been named Sen. Jeff Green Scholars. Students earn this designation by achieving a 4.0 grade point average all four years of high school and scoring at least a 28 composite on the ACT.
